Peace of Mind When
You Need It Most

No one ever wants to think about things going wrong at work, but having protection in place means you're prepared if they do.

If an employee brings a claim to an Employment Tribunal, legal costs can quickly add up. Cases can be lengthy, complex, and expensive to defend. That’s why we are able to introduce you to Employee Dispute Insurance – to protect your business from the financial risk of employment-related claims.

This insurance provides cover for legal fees, settlements, tribunal awards, and the costs associated with defending disputes. It also offers the flexibility for you to design your own policy with individual elements of cover

How It Works

Our Employee Dispute Insurance is built around the HR advice you receive from us. As long as you follow our guidance, your policy will underwrite that advice, so there’s no need to speak to an external helpline or worry about whether you’re covered.

If a case does go as far as a tribunal hearing, the insurance includes solicitor representation, giving you access to expert legal support when it matters most.

Why Employment Dispute Insurance Makes Business Sense

For many small to medium-sized businesses, a single employee dispute can put a significant strain on time, resources, and morale. Even if you’ve followed all the right procedures, defending a claim still means diverting your attention away from the day-to-day running of your business.

Employment Dispute Insurance acts as a financial safety net, giving you the freedom to focus on what you do best while we help manage the legal complexities. It's not just about covering costs, it's about giving you the confidence to handle challenging situations with clarity and support.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Employee Dispute Insurance helps protect your business by covering legal fees, settlement awards, tribunal costs, and associated expenses if an employee—or former employee—brings a claim. The idea is that if you follow our HR advice (or the agreed policy), the insurance will underwrite your actions and provide legal defence when needed. The policy is arranged and provided by ALS Albion Limited who are authorised and regulated by the FCA (No: 310026).

  • Typically, the policy triggers at the ACAS Conciliation stage (not just when a full hearing is reached). This means you begin getting cover early in the dispute process. As with many insurer-backed HR-insurance models, having early cover is important.

  • Typical covered areas include (but are not limited to):

    •              Wrongful or unfair dismissal

    •              Discrimination (e.g. on grounds of race, gender, disability, age)

    •              Harassment or bullying claims

    •              Employment contract disputes

    •              Unlawful deduction of wages or breaches of employment rights

    •              Settlement agreements and associated claims

  • 4. Are there any limits, exclusions, or excesses I should know about?

Yes. Like all insurance policies, there will be terms, limits, and exclusions. Full details are provided by ALS Albion Limited upon enquiry. Common features include:

    • A policy excess (you will bear a portion of costs before cover kicks in)

    • Exclusions for acts committed in bad faith, wilful misconduct or fraud

    • Limits on the total indemnity in a single claim or aggregate across all claims

    • Potential exclusions for known or historic claims made before policy inception
